The Home Depot Rental Center at Lansdowne

Take on any DIY project with the right tools for the job — even if you don't own them. Rent tools, use them, and return them when you're done. You're free to complete your project without cluttering up workshop storage with tools you rarely need.

Tool Rental
The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Lansdowne helps you handle more complex DIY projects. No more old hand-me-down tools that limit what you can do. Rent the tools to finish your project confidently and safely. If your local store doesn't have the tool you need in stock, you might find it at another store within driving distance.

Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
For a more energy-efficient home, update your insulation in the spring — before it gets dangerously hot in your attic. Rent equipment made for insulation to get it installed correctly. Decide between a cellulose insulation blower or a fiberglass blower, and get those nooks and crannies insulated properly. You'll enjoy steadier utility bills and a more consistent home temperature with new insulation.

Tame the Lawn and Trees Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw, and the sidewalks with a pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be refreshed and ready for new spring flowers in no time.

Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep trucks of all kinds on hand. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from flatbeds to cargo vans to pickup trucks. Choose the correct size for your DIY project so you can keep your job on track. As your trusted source for DIY jobs of all sizes, it's easy to make us your source for truck rental as well.

Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to move to a new home, we can help with that, too. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths, but as always, availability varies from one store to the next. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings — from a dorm to a city apartment to a 4-bedroom house, and anything in between. Our box trucks have different rental requirements and sizes than Penske moving trucks, so check the FAQ or speak to an Orange Apron to ensure you find the right rental truck for you.

Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with pro power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers and mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're calling out popular truck, tool, and large equipment rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular truck in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent large equipment, tools, or trucks?

Stop by your local Rental Center to see what tools or trucks you can rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You could also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is available at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read the Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.

How long can I rent tools or large equipment?

Large equipment rentals and tool rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental for a few hours, and bigger jobs are no problem. You've got options to rent tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I bring the tools back?

It's fine to return the tools early if you complete your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.

Can I rent a truck for a few hours?

Rent a cargo van, box truck, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the provided documentation before choosing your vehicle.

Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?

No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.

Do I need to pick up my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered and picked up from your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you. Speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid extra fees and penalties on rented large equipment?

Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra time you require.
