Tool Rental
Kick off your next home improvement project with confidence and the correct tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Lihue-Kauai fill in the gaps in your toolbelt with the items you don't have at home. You can rent the tools you need and bring them back when the job is done. If you need to add those tools to your toolbox permanently, inquire about buying our retired rental tools. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.
Make Painting Easier with Ladder and Paint Sprayer Rentals
Gorgeous springtime days are a great time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Renew surfaces with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, scaffolding rentals for painting a house, or rental ladders for painting fences, we have what you need.
Tame the Bushes and Lawn Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten around the garden and shrubs with rental lawn mowers and hedge trimmers, and get that sidewalk and driveway clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers in no time.
Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
To meet your transport needs, we keep trucks of all kinds ready to rent. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from cargo vans to flatbeds to pickups. You're sure to find the right size for your project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for packing, DIY projects, and storage needs, it's easy to make us your go-to source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to move to a new home, we can help with that. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths, but as always, availability varies from one store to the next. Penske moving trucks have different rental requirements and sizes than our box trucks, so check out our FAQ or speak to an associate to ensure you choose the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Complete expansive projects with the right professional power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom lifts and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers and mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.
Although we're calling out specific truck, tool, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular piece of equipment in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent large equipment, trucks, or tools?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You might also visit our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your store. For more on renting tools or large equipment, read our Tool Rental FAQs, including terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent large equipment or tools by the hour?
You can rent large equipment or tools for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement jobs may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call your Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a box truck, cargo van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the documentation before you select a truck.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Note the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that level. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck or large equipment with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I receive my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered and picked up from your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented large equipment. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?
Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra hours or days you require.
