Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store saved on energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our eco actions.

Do I need a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances life throws at you. Whether dealing with hurricanes, tornados, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements take it out. When exploring different generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
Why should I repair my roof before spring severe weather arrives?
Ready your home for spring temperatures swings and storms by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could headed for major repairs later. On the outside of your home, examine roofing shingles or metal roof panels for damage or rust that could let water leak in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check brick and cinder block for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, change out vinyl siding and chimney caps if damaged.
What benefits do doorbell cameras have?
Enjoy safety, privacy, and peace of mind with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through the peephole or a nearby window when you can see human or animal visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful to scare off wannabe porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you easy and flexible accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
