Take on any DIY project with the tools you need — even if you don't own them. Rent tools, use them, and return them when you're done. You can finish your project without cluttering up shed or workshop storage with tools you rarely use.
Tool Rental
The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Longview, WA helps you handle more complex DIY projects. Break free of the limits of old tools and rent up-to-date tools made to suit your projects. Rent the tools to finish your project safely. If your local store doesn't have the tool you need in stock, it could be at another store within driving distance.
Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
To make your home more energy efficient, add another layer to your insulation in the spring, if possible — before it gets dangerously hot in your attic. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to get it installed correctly. Decide between a fiberglass blower or a cellulose insulation blower, and get those nooks and crannies insulated properly. Installing insulation keeps your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, all while tempering your heating and cooling bills.
Tame the Lawn and Greenery Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower rental, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw, and the driveway and sidewalks with a pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers in no time.
Truck Rental
To meet your transport needs, we keep pickup trucks and cargo vans ready to rent — with availability varying by store. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths at certain stores. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for storage needs, DIY projects, and packing, it's smart to make us your source for transport and moving as well.
Large Equipment Rentals
Complete massive projects with the right professional power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom lifts and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the skid steers for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.
Although we're calling out specific large equipment, tool, and truck rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular tool in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent a truck, tool, or piece of large equipment?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what trucks or tools you can rent. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You could also read our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is carried at your local store. For more on renting large equipment or tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent large equipment or a tool for an hour?
Large equipment rentals and tool rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement projects may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
It's fine to return the tools early if you complete your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you'll need to return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the provided documentation before you select a vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Make a note of the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that level. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent large equipment or a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
Do I need to go get my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment dropped off and picked up from your job site for a reasonable cost — at your home or out in the field. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented large equipment. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid extra fees and penalties on rented large equipment?
Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get charged a late fee.
