Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates. This commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

Why should I get a generator?
We've got the options you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making less noise when they create less power. When considering different generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors.
What home repairs should I make sooner rather than later?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by repairing or replacing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine shingles or metal roofing panels for damage or rust that could let water leak in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check bricks and cinder blocks for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, change out vinyl siding and chimney caps if they're damaged.
What benefits do doorbell cameras have?
Enjoy privacy, peace of mind, and safety with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a peephole or window when you can watch visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful to scare off potential porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you flexible accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
