How does truck rental work?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what trucks or vans you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go moving truck, flatbed truck, or pickup truck. Penske moving truck rentals and moving vans have different rules. You may also visit our truck rental page to see if what you need is in stock at your local store.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a pickup truck, van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the provided documentation before selecting a vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
