Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Should I get a portable generator or an inverter generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with snowstorms, severe thunderstorms, hurricanes, tornados, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power when the elements take it out. When browsing generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
Why should I repair my roof before spring severe weather arrives?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could have problems. On the outside of your home, examine metal roof panels or roof shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check brickwork and cinder block for cracks. Indoors, ensure ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be replaced if they're damaged.
Do you have doorbell cameras?
Enjoy safety, peace of mind, and privacy with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through the peephole or a nearby window when you can see visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off potential porch pirates. Many cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you flexible and easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
