When you're preparing to make the leap into a major DIY project, you might not have all the tools you need in your garage or shed. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Middletown, CT Tool Rental Center.
Tool Rental
Our tool rental options expand your toolbox with the exact tools you need to complete the job. It's not practical to buy a specialized tool when you're not using it at least once a week. When you're considering a new tool, try it out first before you decide which to get. Whatever your situation, we have just what you're looking for.
Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Paint Sprayers
Gorgeous sunny days are a great time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Make surfaces look new again with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, scaffolding rentals for painting a house or shed, or rental ladders for painting fences, we have what you need.
Rent Post Hole Diggers, Shop Vacs, and Floor Sanders
Tackle serious projects with serious power tool rentals. Use a rental tiller to get your garden bed ready for planting or ensure fresh sod lays just right with a sod cutter rental. Construct a new fence around your property faster with a post hole digger rental, then use other concrete tools to securely set your fence posts.
Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep trucks of all kinds on hand. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from flatbeds to cargo vans to pickups. We'll have the right size for your DIY project so you can keep your job on track. As your trusted source for DIY jobs of all sizes, it's smart to make us your go-to source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to relocate to a new home, let us help with that as well. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths, but as always, availability varies from store to store. Box trucks have different sizes and rental requirements than Penske moving trucks, so check out our FAQ or speak to an associate to make sure you choose the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Complete massive projects with professional power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.
Although we're calling out specific tool, truck, and large equipment rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular tool in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent tools, trucks, or large equipment?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You can also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your store. For more information on renting tools or large equipment, read our Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent tools or large equipment by the hour?
You can rent a tool or large equipment for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract before you select a vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that same level. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent large equipment or a truck?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
Do I need to pick up my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment dropped off and picked up from your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment and you'll need to rent it for a full day. Speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?
Think of your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
