Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store saved on energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our eco actions.

Do I need a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with snowstorms, severe thunderstorms, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements knock it out. When exploring different generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
How can I prepare my home for fluctuating spring temps?
Ready your home for spring temperatures swings and storms by replacing any broken parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be looking at trouble. On the outside of your home, examine roofing shingles or metal roof panels for damage or rust that could let water in. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check bricks and cinder block for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be replaced if they're damaged.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy safety, privacy, and peace of mind with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through a nearby window or peephole when you can watch human or animal visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off potential porch pirates. Many cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you flexible accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
