Tool Rental
Kick off your DIY project with confidence and the correct tools. Let The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Montano expand your toolbox with the items you don't have on hand. Rent what you need and bring it back when you're finished. If it makes sense to have those rental tools around all the time, ask about purchasing used tools. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.
Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
For a more energy-efficient home, replace your insulation in the spring, if possible — before it gets dangerously hot in the attic. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to install it correctly. Choose from a cellulose insulation blower or a fiberglass blower, and get those nooks and crannies insulated well. Installing insulation keeps your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, all while tempering your heating and cooling bills.
Tame the Lawn and Trees Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten around the garden and bushes with trimmers and rental lawn mowers, and get that driveway and sidewalk clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
Truck and Cargo Van Rentals
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep trucks of all kinds ready to roll. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from cargo vans to flatbed trucks to pickup trucks. Choose the correct size for your project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for DIY jobs of all sizes, it's easy to make us your go-to source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to relocate to a new home, let us help with that as well. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths, but as always, availability varies from store to store. Our Penske moving trucks have different rental requirements and sizes than our box trucks, so check our FAQ or speak to an associate to make sure you choose the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Complete massive projects with pro equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the boom lifts and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.
Although we're calling out popular tool, large equipment, and truck rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent trucks, tools, or large equipment?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You might also read our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is in stock at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent large equipment or a tool for an hour?
You can rent large equipment or tools for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
It's fine to return the tools early if you complete your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the documentation before selecting a truck.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that level. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck or large equipment with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Large equipment or select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I receive my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid extra fees and penalties on rented large equipment?
Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get charged a late fee.
