Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store saved on energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like wind and solar.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our local communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with hurricanes, tornados, blizzards, thunderstorms, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power after the elements knock it out. When searching generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
How can I prepare my home for spring temperature changes?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by repairing or replacing broken parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could have problems. Check brick and cinder block for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. On the outside of your home, examine metal roof panels or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be swapped out if damaged.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy privacy, peace of mind, and safety with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through the peephole or an adjacent window when you can see animal or human visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off would-be porch pirates. Several cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you flexible accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
