When you're beginning to make the leap into a DIY project, you might not have the specialty tools you need in the garage or shed. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Northville.
Tool Rental
Our tool rental options expand your toolbox and toolbelt with the exact tools you require to complete a DIY job. It's not necessary to get a specialty tool when you're rarely reaching for it. When you're considering a new tool, give it a spin before you choose which one to get. Whatever your situation, we have just what you're looking for.
Rent Floor Sanders, Post Hole Diggers, Shop Vacs, and More
Tackle serious jobs with reliable power tools. Take your scuffed hardwood to the next level with a floor sander rental and a shop vac rental to get the floors smooth and ready for refinishing. Construct a new fence around your home faster with a post hole digger rental, then utilize other concrete tools that suit your job.
Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Ladders
Make the most of warmer weather to paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get professional coverage fast and make surfaces look new again. Ladder rentals help you reach elevated areas when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry extension ladders and step ladders for medium or smaller jobs, so you won't have to wait when inspiration strikes.
Rental Trucks
To meet your transport needs, we keep flatbed trucks as well as Penske moving trucks on hand — with availability varying by store. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your job on track. As your trusted source for DIY projects, packing, and storage needs, it's simple to make us your source for moving and transport as well.

How do I rent tools and trucks?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks and tools are up for rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. You could also check out our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is carried at your store. For more on renting tools, read the Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent a tool for a day?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY projects may only require a short rental period, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call your rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a box truck, cargo van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the provided documentation before selecting a truck.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
