Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store saved on energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment, as well as our local communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

Should I get a portable generator or an inverter generator?
We've got the variety you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They adjust to whatever power load is requested. This means they'll make less noise in times of lesser demand. When browsing generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
How can I prepare my home for fluctuating spring temperatures?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by repairing or replacing broken parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be headed for trouble. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofs or shingles for rust or damage that could let water leak into your home. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check brickwork and cinder blocks for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be replaced if they're damaged.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy safety, privacy, and peace of mind with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through an adjacent window or peephole when you can watch visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off would-be porch pirates. Several cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
