The Home Depot Rental Center at Oakland Park

When you're preparing to leap into a home improvement project, you might not have the specialty tools you need in a shed. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Oakland Park Tool Rental Center.

Tool Rental
Our tool rental options enlarge your toolbelt and toolbox with the exact tools you need to complete a DIY job. It's not necessary to keep a specific tool when you're not using it frequently. When you're searching for a new tool, give it a spin before you choose which one to buy. Whatever your situation, we have the power tools you're looking for.

Rent Shop Vacuums, Floor Sanders, and Post Hole Diggers
Tackle major jobs with robust power tools. Take your scuffed wooden floor to the next level with a floor sander rental and a wet/dry vacuum to get the floors smooth and ready for refinishing. Construct a new fence around your home more efficiently with a post hole digger rental, then utilize other concrete tools to securely set your fence posts.

Make Painting Easier with Ladder and Paint Sprayer Rentals
Take advantage of longer spring days and paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get professional coverage fast and renew surfaces. Scaffolding rentals help you reach high surfaces when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry extension ladders and step ladders for medium or smaller jobs, so you won't have to wait when inspiration strikes.

Rental Trucks
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep pickup trucks and box trucks ready to rent — with availability varying by store. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths at certain stores. Choose the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your job on track. As your trusted source for DIY jobs, it's easy to make us your source for transport and moving as well.

Large Equipment Rentals
Complete expansive projects with professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the scissor lifts and boom lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're mentioning specific truck, tool, and large equipment rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent a piece of large equipment, a tool, or a truck?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You may also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is available at your store. For more info on renting large equipment or tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.

How long can I rent tools or large equipment?

You can rent large equipment or tools for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY projects may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I return the tools?

You can return the tools early if you complete your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need the tools longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.

How long can I rent a truck?

Rent a box truck, cargo van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the documentation before selecting a truck.

Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?

Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Large equipment or select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.

Do I need to pick up my rented large equipment?

Depending on your location, you can get large equipment dropped off at your job site for a reasonable cost — at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment and you'll need to rent it for a full day. Speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.

How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?

Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra time you require.
