When you're starting to dive into a big home improvement job, you might not have everything you need in your workshop or garage. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Olathe.
Tool Rental
Our tool rental options enlarge your toolbox and toolbelt with the precise tools you need to complete a DIY job. It's impractical to keep a specialty tool when you're rarely reaching for it. When you're in the market for a new tool, do a trial run first before you select which one to purchase. Whatever your situation, we have just what you're looking for.
Rent Post Hole Diggers, Shop Vacuums, and Floor Sanders
Tackle major jobs with reliable power tool rentals. Take your scuffed hardwood to the next level with a floor sander rental and a shop vacuum rental to get the floors smooth and ready for refinishing. Construct a new fence around your home more efficiently with a post hole digger rental, then utilize other concrete tools that suit your job.
Make Painting Easier with Ladder and Paint Sprayer Rentals
Beautiful springtime days are a great time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Make surfaces look new again with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, ladder rentals for painting fences, or scaffolding rentals for painting a shed, we have what you need.

How do I rent a tool or a truck?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. You can also read our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is at your local store. For more on renting tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent tools by the hour?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Remember to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the terms and conditions before choosing a vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
