The Home Depot Rental Center at Ontario, CA

When you're starting to make the leap into a home improvement project, you might not have every tool you need in a garage or workshop. That's when you should stop by The Home Depot Ontario, CA Tool Rental Center.

Tool Rental
Our tool rental options expand your toolbelt and toolbox with the precise tools you require to complete your project. It's impractical to purchase a specific tool when you're rarely reaching for it. When you're thinking about buying a new tool, give it a spin before you select which one to purchase. Whatever your situation, we have the power tools you're looking for.

Rent Floor Sanders, Shop Vacuums, Post Hole Diggers, and More
Tackle serious jobs with reliable power tools. Use a rental tiller to get your garden bed ready for planting or ensure fresh sod lays just right with a sod cutter rental. Construct a new fence around your pool or property more efficiently with a post hole digger rental, then utilize other concrete tools to securely set your fence posts.

Make Painting Easier with Paint Sprayers and Rental Scaffolding
Make the most of warmer weather to paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get professional coverage fast and make surfaces look new again. Ladder rentals help you reach high locations when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry extension ladders and step ladders for small to medium jobs, so you won't have to wait when you're ready to get that job done.

Truck Rental
For your transport needs, we keep box trucks and cargo vans ready to roll — with availability varying by store. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet at certain stores. We'll have the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your job on track. As your trusted source for storage needs, DIY projects, and packing, it's easy to make us your source for transport and moving as well.

Large Equipment Rentals
Complete expansive projects with professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the scissor and boom lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers and excavators for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're mentioning specific large equipment, tool, and truck rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular truck in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent tools, trucks, or large equipment?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You could also check out our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is available at your favorite store. For more information on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.

Can I rent large equipment or tools by the hour?

Tool rentals and large equipment rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and major projects are no problem. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I return the tools?

You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any mud or dirt from the tool as well. If you need the tools longer, call your local rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.

How long can I rent a truck?

Rent a box truck, cargo van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Be sure to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the documentation before you select a vehicle.

Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent large equipment or a truck?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Large equipment or select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.

How do I receive my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered to your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's at your home or out in the field. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented large equipment. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?

Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra time you require.
