Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store reduced energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as wind and solar.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Should I get a portable generator or an inverter generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether you're dealing with snowstorms, severe thunderstorms, tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements take it out. When exploring different generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors.
What home repairs should I make sooner rather than later?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for major repairs down the line. Check brickwork and cinder blocks for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. On the outside of your home, examine roofing shingles or metal roofs for damage or rust that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Lastly, change out vinyl siding and chimney caps if damaged.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy peace of mind, privacy, and safety with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a peephole or window when you can see animal or human visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off potential porch pirates. Several cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you easy accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
