How do I rent trucks or tools?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see which tools or trucks you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. Can I rent a tool by the hour?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the month, day, or week, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need the tools longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Be sure to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the provided documentation before you select a truck.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Make a note of the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
