The Home Depot Rental Center at Pontiac

When it's time to dive into a DIY job, you might not have every tool you need in your shed. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Pontiac Tool Rental Center.

Tool Rental
Our tool and equipment rental choices enlarge your toolbox and toolbelt with the precise tools you need to complete a DIY job. It's not practical to purchase a specialty tool when you're rarely reaching for it. When you're considering a new tool, try it out before you choose which to buy. Whatever your situation, we have the power tools you're looking for.

Make Painting Easier with Paint Sprayers and Rental Scaffolding
Take advantage of longer spring days and paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get professional coverage and work much faster than you would with a brush or roller and a paint tray. Rent ladders and scaffolding to reach elevated locations when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry step ladders and extension ladders for medium or smaller jobs, so you won't have to wait when inspiration strikes.

Rent Floor Sanders, Post Hole Diggers, Shop Vacuums, and More
Tackle serious jobs with serious power tool rentals. Get your garden bed ready for spring with a tiller rental or ensure fresh sod lays just right with a sod cutter. Construct a new fence around your pool or property more efficiently with a post hole digger rental, then use other concrete tools that suit your job.

Rental Trucks
Choose one of our trucks when you need a pickup or flatbed truck. It's great for hauling a tool rental or large purchase. With excellent availability and a price to match, our vehicles are ready when you are. We've also got box trucks and Penske moving trucks to help ease the stress of a big move. Availability varies by store, so check out the FAQ or speak to an Orange Apron to ensure you choose the right rental truck for you.

Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with the right pro power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the boom lifts and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators capable of hauling materials on outdoor job sites, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.

Although we're calling out popular truck, tool, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular truck in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent large equipment, tools, or trucks?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks or tools you can rent. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You might also visit our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more details on renting large equipment or tools, read the Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.

Can I rent a tool or large equipment for a day?

You can rent a tool or large equipment for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I return the tools?

It's fine to return the tools early if you complete your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any mud or dirt from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call your rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.

Can I rent a truck for a week?

Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract before choosing your truck.

Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?

Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Note the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.

How do I receive my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered to your job site for a reasonable cost — at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.

How do I avoid extra fees and penalties on my large equipment rentals?

Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra hours or days you require.
