Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store saved on energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities, as well as the environment. Should I get an inverter generator or a portable generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with blizzards, thunderstorms, tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements take it out. When exploring different generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
How can I prepare my home for fluctuating spring temps?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperature swings by replacing or repairing broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine roof shingles or metal roofs for damage or rust that could let water leak in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check brickwork and cinder block for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, replace vinyl siding and chimney caps if they're in poor condition.
Does The Home Depot sell doorbell cameras?
Enjoy safety, privacy, and peace of mind with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through a peephole or window when you can watch animal or human visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off wannabe porch pirates. Most cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you flexible accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
