Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our eco actions.

Should I get an inverter generator or a portable generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with hurricanes, tornados, blizzards, thunderstorms, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power after the elements knock it out. When considering different generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
Why should I repair my roof before spring severe weather arrives?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperature swings by replacing any faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check brickwork and cinder block for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, change chimney caps and vinyl siding if damaged.
Does The Home Depot sell doorbell cameras?
Enjoy privacy, peace of mind, and safety with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through the peephole or a nearby window when you can see visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful to scare off would-be porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Most cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you easy and flexible accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
