Take on any new home improvement project with the right tools — even if you don't own them. Rent power tools, use them, and return them when you're done. You're free to complete your project without cluttering up valuable garage or shed storage with tools you rarely need.
Tool and Equipment Rental
Using The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in S Boulevard Charlotte helps you handle bigger DIY projects. No more old hand-me-down tools that limit what you can do. Complete your project confidently and safely by renting quality tools. If your local store doesn't have a tool you need in stock, it might be at another one within driving distance.
Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Paint Sprayers
Make the most of warmer weather to paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get optimal coverage and work much faster than you would with a brush or roller and a paint tray. Rent ladders and scaffolding to reach high locations when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry extension ladders and step ladders for medium or smaller jobs, so you won't have to wait when inspiration strikes.
Tame the Bushes and Lawn Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten around the garden and shrubs with edgers and rental lawn mowers, and get that sidewalk and driveway clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
Truck Rental
To meet your transport needs, we keep pickup trucks and cargo vans ready for rental — with availability varying by store. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths at certain stores. We'll have the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your job on track. As your source for storage, packing, and DIY, it's easy to make us your go-to source for transport and moving as well.
Large Equipment Rentals
Complete massive projects with pro equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the boom lifts and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers and mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.
Although we're mentioning specific truck, large equipment, and tool rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular piece of equipment in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent large equipment, trucks, or tools?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see which trucks or tools you can rent. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You can also visit our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is at your store. For more on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent tools or large equipment by the hour?
Tool rentals and large equipment rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY projects may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you complete your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need the tools longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a box truck, cargo van, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you must return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the terms and conditions before selecting a truck.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Large equipment or select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I get my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment dropped off and picked up from your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?
Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra hours or days you require.
