Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether dealing with tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements knock it out. When browsing generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors.
Why should I repair my roof before spring severe weather arrives?
Ready your home for spring temperatures swings and storms by replacing any faulty or broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine roof shingles or metal roofs for damage or rust that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check cinder block and bricks for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be changed out if they're in poor condition.
What benefits do doorbell cameras have?
Enjoy safety, privacy, and peace of mind with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through the peephole or a nearby window when you can see visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off wannabe porch pirates. Several cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you flexible accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
