Can I rent a flatbed truck?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see which trucks or vans you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go pickup truck, cargo van, or flatbed truck. Penske moving van rentals and moving trucks have different rules. You might also check out our truck rental page to see if what you need is available at your local store.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a moving van or truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you'll need to return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the provided documentation before choosing a truck.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Note the fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that level. When you don't refill the truck, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
