Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Why should I get a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether you're dealing with thunderstorms, snowstorms tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power after the elements knock it out. When considering different generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors.
What home repairs should I make sooner rather than later?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperatures swings and storms by replacing any broken or faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be headed for trouble. On the outside of your home, examine roofing shingles or metal roofing panels for damage or rust that could let water leak into your home. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check cinder block and brick for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be changed if they're in poor condition.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy privacy, safety, and peace of mind with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through a peephole or window when you can see visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off wannabe porch pirates. Most cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you easy and flexible accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
