When you're starting to make the leap into a big DIY project, you might not have all the required tools in your workshop. That's when you should stop by The Home Depot Shrewsbury Tool Rental Center.
Tool Rental
Our tool and equipment rental options expand your toolbelt with the exact tools you need to complete a DIY job. It's impractical to keep a specific tool when you're not using it often. When you're searching for a new tool, do a trial run first before you decide which one to buy. Whatever your situation, we have just what you're looking for.
Rent Post Hole Diggers, Floor Sanders, and Shop Vacs
Tackle serious projects with serious power tool rentals. Get your garden bed ready for spring with a tiller rental or ensure fresh sod lays just right with a sod cutter. Construct a new fence around your pool or property faster and more efficiently with a post hole digger rental, then use other concrete tools to securely set your fence posts.
Make Painting Easier with Ladder and Paint Sprayer Rentals
Beautiful sunny days are a great time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Renew surfaces with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, scaffolding rentals for painting a house or shed, or rental ladders for painting fences, we have what you need.
Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
To meet your transport needs, we keep trucks of all kinds ready to rent. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from pickup trucks to cargo vans to flatbeds. You're sure to find the correct size for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for packing, DIY projects, and storage needs, it's easy to make us your go-to source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to relocate to a new home, let us help with that. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet, but as always, availability varies from store to store. Our Penske moving trucks have different rental requirements and sizes than our box trucks, so check the FAQ or speak to an Orange Apron to ensure you find the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Complete massive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom lifts and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.
Although we're mentioning specific truck, tool, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent a piece of large equipment, a tool, or a truck?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what tools or trucks you can rent. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You may also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is at your local store. For more information on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent a tool or large equipment for a week?
Large equipment rentals and tool rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, month, or week, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a box truck, cargo van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Remember to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you'll need to return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the terms and conditions before you decide on a truck.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
Do I need to go get my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered and removed from your job site for an affordable rate — out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you and you'll need to rent it for a full day. Speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?
Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get charged a late fee.
