The Home Depot Rental Center at South Southington

Tool and Equipment Rental
Start your next home improvement job with confidence and the correct tools. Let The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in South Southington fill in the gaps in your toolbox with the items you don't have on hand. You can rent what you need and bring it back when you're finished. If it makes sense to have those rental tools around all the time, inquire about buying our retired rental tools. Compared to the new items on our store shelves, they're discounted.

Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
For a more energy-efficient home, replace your insulation in the spring — before it gets dangerously hot in your attic. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to get it installed correctly. Decide between a fiberglass blower or a cellulose insulation blower, and insulate those nooks and crannies with ease. It'll keep the house cooler this spring and summer, then continue working year-round. You'll enjoy warmer temperatures in the winter, too, which can tamp down heater usage.

Tame the Lawn and Bushes Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the lawn and shrubs with rental lawn mowers and trimmers, and get that driveway clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be refreshed and ready for new spring flowers in no time.

Rental Trucks
If it's time to get going on your move but you have to rent a truck to do it, stop by The Home Depot Truck Rental Center. From pickup and flatbed trucks to Penske moving trucks and box trucks, we've got the transportation you need. Get the right size for your DIY project so you can keep your job on track. Rent a truck to check off more DIY jobs from your list. Check with your local rental center for availability, as it changes.

Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with professional power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're mentioning popular large equipment, tool, and truck rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent trucks, tools, or large equipment?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what tools or trucks you can rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You could also visit our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is at your store. For more on renting tools or large equipment, read our Tool Rental FAQs, including terms and conditions for the equipment.

Can I rent a tool or large equipment for a week?

Large equipment rentals and tool rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call your Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I bring the tools back?

You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.

Can I rent a truck for a few hours?

Rent a cargo van, box truck, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Be sure to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the terms and conditions before you decide on a truck.

Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Make a note of the fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that level. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent large equipment or a truck?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.

Do I need to pick up my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered to your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented large equipment. Speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.

How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?

Treat your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra time you require.
