Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Do I need a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with snowstorms, severe thunderstorms, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements knock it out. When browsing generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors.
Should I do siding repairs now?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by replacing any faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could have problems. On the outside of your home, examine shingles or metal roofs for damage or rust that could let water in. Gutters should be cleaned to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check cinder blocks and brick for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, change vinyl siding and chimney caps if they're in poor condition.
What benefits do doorbell cameras have?
Enjoy safety, peace of mind, and privacy with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a peephole or window when you can watch animal or human visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful to scare off potential porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you easy and flexible accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
