The Home Depot Rental Center at Sunset

Take on any new DIY project with the right tools for the job — even if you don't currently own them. Rent the tools, use them, and bring them back when you're done. You can finish your project without cluttering up your workshop or basement with tools you only need every so often.

Tool and Equipment Rental
The Home Depot Sunset Tool Rental Center helps you handle larger DIY projects. No more old hand-me-down tools that limit what you can do. Complete your project confidently and safely by renting quality tools. If your local store doesn't have the tool in stock, it could be available at another store within driving distance.

Tame the Lawn and Trees Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the lawn and bushes with edgers and rental lawn mowers, and get that sidewalk clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be ready for new spring flowers in no time.

Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
To make your home more energy efficient, replace your insulation in the spring — before it gets dangerously hot in your attic. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to install it correctly. Choose from a cellulose insulation blower or a fiberglass blower, and insulate those nooks and crannies properly. Help keep your heating and cooling bills under control with new insulation that maintains your home's temperature.

Rental Trucks
Choose one of our trucks when you're in need of a flatbed or pickup truck. It's great for hauling a tool rental or brand-new DIY supplies. With excellent availability and a price to match, our vehicles are ready to roll when you need them. We've also got Penske moving trucks and box trucks to help ease the stress of a big move. Availability varies by store, so check out the FAQ or speak to an Orange Apron to ensure you find the right rental truck for you.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent a moving truck or tool?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. You may also read our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your store. For more on renting tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.

Can I rent tools by the hour?

Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.

When can I bring the tools back?

You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.

Can I choose how long to rent a truck?

Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you'll need to return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the provided documentation before you select a truck.

Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?

Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?

No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
