Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store saved on energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as wind and solar.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment, as well as our communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Why should I get a generator?
We've got the options you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making less noise when they create less power. When shopping for generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors.
How can I prepare my home for spring temperature changes?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperature swings by replacing any broken or faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be headed for trouble. On the outside of your home, examine shingles or metal roof panels for damage or rust that could let water leak in. Gutters should be cleaned to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check bricks and cinder block for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, swap vinyl siding and chimney caps if damaged.
What benefits do doorbell cameras have?
Enjoy peace of mind, privacy, and safety with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through an adjacent window or peephole when you can see visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful to scare off would-be porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Most cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
