Take on any DIY project with the tools you need — even if you don't currently own them. Rent power tools, use them, and take them back when you're done. You can complete your project without taking up garage or shed storage with tools you rarely use.
Tool Rental
Using The Home Depot Wade Green Tool Rental Center helps you handle bigger DIY projects. You won't be limited by only what you have on hand or have to settle for untrustworthy hand-me-down tools. Rent the tools to finish your project confidently and safely. If your local store doesn't have the tool in stock, it might be at another store within driving distance.
Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Paint Sprayers
Gorgeous springtime days are a great time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Make surfaces look new again with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need ladder rentals for painting fences, or scaffolding rentals for painting a shed, or a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, we have what you need.
Tame the Bushes and Lawn Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower rental, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw, and the sidewalks with a pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be refreshed and ready for new spring flowers in no time.
Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
For your transport needs, we keep trucks of all kinds ready to rent. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from pickups to flatbeds to cargo vans. We'll have the right size for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for packing, DIY projects, and storage needs, it's simple to make us your source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to relocate to a new home, we can help with that as well. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet, but as always, availability varies from one store to the next. Our box trucks have different sizes and rental requirements than Penske moving trucks, so check out the FAQ or speak to an associate to ensure you choose the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle massive projects with the right pro equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators capable of hauling materials on outdoor job sites, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.
Although we're calling out specific large equipment, truck, and tool rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular tool in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent large equipment, tools, or trucks?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what's available. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You may also check out our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is in stock at your favorite store. For more information on renting large equipment or tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent large equipment or a tool for an hour?
You can rent large equipment or tools for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, month, or week, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call your local rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you must return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before you choose a truck.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Large equipment or select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.
Do I need to pick up my large equipment rental from the store?
Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment and you'll need to rent it for a full day. Speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid extra fees and penalties on rented large equipment?
Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra time you require.
