Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

Should I get an inverter generator or a portable generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for whatever circumstances life throws at you. Whether dealing with hurricanes, tornados, severe thunderstorms, blizzards or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power when the elements take it out. When browsing generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors.
What home repairs should I make sooner rather than later?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperature swings by replacing or repairing broken parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be in for a real headache. Check bricks and cinder blocks for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. On the outside of your home, examine roof shingles or metal roofs for damage or rust that could let water leak into your home. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Lastly, swap chimney caps and vinyl siding if in poor condition.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy privacy, safety, and peace of mind with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through a window or peephole when you can see human or animal visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off would-be porch pirates. Most cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
