The Home Depot Rental Center at Westport

Tool Rental
Start your next home improvement job with confidence and the correct tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Westport Tool Rental Center fill in the gaps in your toolbelt with the items you don't have on hand. Rent what you need and bring it back after you're done. If it makes sense to have those rental tools around all the time, inquire about buying our retired rental tools. Compared to the new items on our store shelves, they're discounted.

Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
For a more energy-efficient home, add another layer to your insulation in the spring — before it gets dangerously hot in the attic. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to get it installed correctly. Choose from a fiberglass blower or a cellulose insulation blower, and insulate those nooks and crannies with ease. Installing insulation keeps your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, all while tempering your heating and cooling bills.

Tame the Lawn and Trees Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower rental, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw rental, and the sidewalks and driveway with a rental pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.

Truck Rental
For your transport needs, we keep cargo vans and trucks on hand — with availability varying by store. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths at certain stores. Choose the correct size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for storage needs, DIY projects, and packing, it's smart to make us your source for moving and transport as well.

Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers and mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're calling out specific truck, tool, and large equipment rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular tool in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent a truck, tool, or piece of large equipment?

Stop by your local Rental Center to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You might also read our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is carried at your store. For more details on renting large equipment or tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.

Can I rent large equipment or tools by the hour?

You can rent a tool or large equipment for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY projects may only require a short rental period, and long-term jobs are no problem. You've got options to rent tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.

When can I bring the tools back?

It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need the tools longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.

Can I rent a truck for a week?

Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the provided documentation before choosing a truck.

Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that level. When you don't refill the truck, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.

Do I need to go get my rented large equipment?

Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment dropped off at your job site for a reasonable cost — out in the field or at your own home. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented large equipment. Speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid extra fees and penalties on rented large equipment?

Treat your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
