Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our eco actions.

Should I get an inverter generator or a portable generator?
We've got the variety you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are cleaner and quieter than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making more noise when they create more power. When searching generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows.
How can I prepare my home for spring temperature changes?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by replacing or repairing broken parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in any crevices, you could headed for major repairs down the line. On the outside of your home, examine metal roof panels or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check bricks and cinder blocks for cracks. Indoors, ensure ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, replace vinyl siding and chimney caps if they're damaged.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy privacy, peace of mind, and safety with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through the peephole or a nearby window when you can see human or animal visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off wannabe porch pirates. Several cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you flexible accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
