Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

Should I get a portable generator or an inverter generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for any circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements take it out. When exploring different generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
How can I prepare my home for spring temperature changes?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for major repairs down the line. Check cinder block and bricks for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. On the outside of your home, examine roof shingles or metal roof panels for damage or rust that could let water leak in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Lastly, swap vinyl siding and chimney caps if damaged.
Does The Home Depot sell doorbell cameras?
Enjoy peace of mind, privacy, and safety with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through a nearby window or peephole when you can see visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful to scare off potential porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you flexible accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
