Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store cut energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment, as well as our communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Should I get an inverter generator or a portable generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether you're dealing with hurricanes, tornados, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements knock it out. When considering different generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
How can I prepare my home for spring temperature changes?
Ready your home for spring temperatures swings and storms by replacing any broken or faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could headed for major repairs down the line. On the outside of your home, examine roofing shingles or metal roofing panels for damage or rust that could let water leak into your home. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check brick and cinder block for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be swapped if in poor condition.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy safety, privacy, and peace of mind with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a window or peephole when you can watch animal or human visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful to scare off potential porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you flexible accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
