Is this product suitable for flooring?
            ByFeb 10, 2026
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

The patterns on this specific product would not create a flat uniform surface for flooring. Pine can be used for flooring but it's very soft and will dent easily.

I order these by the pallet (121 boards) quite often. I have asked to get full wrapped pallets, however this order was pulled off the shelf and I was given the boards that all other customers have avoided. I had 16 boards that were cracked, broken, warped, or big holes.

I've always shopped in-store but needed some wood longer and I could pick up so I ordered online for delivery. Out of 21 boards, 6 were damaged either by delivery or whomever "picked" my order at the store. Not a good way to receive my order...

Beware: Third-party delivery service demanded a waiver be signed. Don't put yourself at risk!
This was the second time I ordered these boards so I would have purchased a total of 230 boards. However, on this last order I was told by the third-party delivery service that I would need to sign a waiver in order for them to cross the "threshold" of my property with the Moffitt forklift. I have probably received more than 20 large deliveries from Home Depot in the past three years for our new house build and this was a first regarding the 3rd party deliverer holding my order hostage unless I signed the waiver. In fact, just one week prior to this I had received a much larger order that was delivered with not mention of a waiver. Of course, I did not sign the waiver since I am Home Depot's customer, and they should require their third-party delivery service providers to carry General Liability Insurance, especially if they don't trust the driver's ability to properly drive equipment. I had no choice but to cancel this small $1100 order. Home Depot should not ask their own customers to sign away any rights. I was never made aware of any waiver. It was never disclosed to me that I would have to sign a waiver until my material was sitting on the truck in front of the job site. There was no written waiver for me to read. I believe this is considered "unfair waiver practice" per the Federal Trade Commission’s description. Dear Home Depot: I have spent a small fortune with you, probably upwards of $100,000.00 but even if I didn’t spend that much each of your customers deserves better. Please don’t allow a third-party delivery service to put YOUR customers at risk. I’m contemplating filing a report with the Federal Trade Commission regarding this.

                    Quality control
Installing Tongue and groove boards isn't for the faint of heart, especially if you want to install beaded board facing out. Having said that, if you know how to pick out lumber, you will spend a lot of time laser eyeing each board and looking for warped, crowns, defects, cracks, knots, etc. I spent over an hour picking the best boards I could find and still came home with rejects.I admit I'm somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to carpentry and measuring etc, but the quality control of these boards is really bad.If you really want to tackle a T&G board project, do yourself a favor and spend the extra money at a real lumber yard. I've already committed myself to this project and pre finished a bunch of boards so I can't return them, but if I decide to do any T&G project in the future, I wll never again purchase T&G boards from HD.
