Questions & Answers

I need an arctic white 60" standard height "tile in" bathtub with a left drain. I know the Studio alcove tub is "close" but its a soaking tub and thus too tall. I need standard height. Also, it can't have a flange that would interfere with shower doors.

Hello Areg, Americast is our patented process that bonds a high-quality porcelain enamel surface with an enameling grade material and a molded reinforcement material backing. The Princeton models come in 14" and 17" height, but appear to have the same soaking depth of 9.5". Is that correct? I assumed the taller tub had had more clearance to the overflow?
                ByOct 8, 2024
                1 Answer |
                Answer This Question

Hello JoelDc, Both of those have the same soaking depth as the basins are the same size. The only difference is the height of the apron. The taller apron accommodates above floor roughing and the 14" rough in is for below floor installation. Sincerely, Your American Standard Consumer Connection Team

Tub has a bubble, sounds like a mason jar popping
We just had our American Standard Princeton 2391.202 tub installed. The contractor used a 2x4 stringer on the back wall set at the height stipulated in the installation instructions, as well as fender washers to pinch the tub flange to the supporting studs, and a silicone bed on the subfloor. Prior to installation, the subfloor was confirmed to be level. After letting the silicone 'bed' cure for 24 hours, my contractor stood in the tub and noticed that it had a significant "bubble". When stepping on it, the tub flexes noticeably and makes a distinctive sound like a mason jar being popped. He mentioned that this tub may be defective / delaminated. I have posted a video on Dropbox which shows the issue described herein: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gqdysxro41nc7yu/Americast%20Princeton_defective_tub.MOV?dl=0

                        Good basic tub
Replaced a fiberglass tub enclosure with this and tile above. I was pleased that even I could maneuver it around by myself, in opening the box to inspect it for defects. Installed easily and I like the lower height for ease of step-in. No complaints. It's a good basic tub. In my search, HD had the best price on it.

I would give this product a better rating if it didn't take several weeks to weed out tubs that were damaged or dropped by forklift drivers... Clearly the boxes had damage but we didn't see damage to the tubs until we got them in the light. Finally...the 3rd tub was received undamaged.
