For a 4x4 pole, how many bags do I need?
ByAug 17, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Rick, you would need a 1' diameter hole for a 4x4 post. We would also need to know the length of the post to determine the depth of the hole and how many bags you would need. Please reach out to our technical support team directly so we can gather more information and help find a solution. 1-866-725-7383.

Can use this for setting 4x6x16 post for a 24x 24 sun sail?
    ByAug 5, 2026
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Wizard1, we would advise using High Strength Concrete Mix and mixing the material with water outside of the whole to ensure a continuous mix. We would also advise to wait 7 days prior to installing the sun shade. Should you have any further questions or any concerns, do not hesitate to contact us directly at 1-866-725-7383.

How many bags should I use to set a 4x4 post 30" deep which will support a playhouse? Thank you for your help.
            ByJul 19, 2026
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

Emerson, we would recommend the hole to be 3 times the width of the post, in this case that would mean a 12" diameter hole. You would need 5/50lb Fast Setting Concrete mix bags to fill a 12" x 30" hole with a 4" x 4" post. Should you have any further questions or any concerns, do not hesitate to contact us directly at 1-866-725-7383.

                  Not Good for Silicone Mold
Not sure if I got a bad bag, but I tried to use the mix in a silicone brick mold. I mixed appropriately with water and let it set for 18 hours. All the molds fell apart with no strength and crumbled easily. I don't know how this concrete mix would even work for posts in the ground?

Response from Sakrete Customer CareJul 14, 2026
This would not be a recommended application for our Concrete Mix. Sakrete Concrete Mixes are not to be used for molding. There is no drainage system in a mold, allowing for the concrete to hold too much water during the setting/curing process, causing it to weaken and fail. Should you have any further questions or any concerns, do not hesitate to contact us directly at 1-866-725-7383. sakrete
SAKRETE concrete mix is a dependable choice for both DIYers and pros. It is incredibly easy to mix and yields a strong, durable finish for everything from fence posts to patio slabs. Just follow the water ratios, and you will get a solid pour. Highly recommended for your next concrete project!

Very easy to use. Simply put water into the hole to the 1/3 level, add the Sackrete to the water and mix with a hand spade. Repeat as necessary.

This is a great product and my first time trying it for a project. Another brand was sold out so I gave Sakrete a try and I have zero complaints. It’s easy to mix, sets up nice and strong, and it seems to be a great product. If you assume you need one bag you actually need 2 but other than that, no issues!

Super quick and easy method when replacing a fence post. Just add 1/3 water to the whole and pour in the concrete and it set up in less than 45 minutes allowing me to secure fence rails and cut off excess top length.
