I tried staining a wood cabinet with dark green oil wood stain, but the stain is not drying or absorbing into the wood after a week. If I rub it with mineral spirits and then prime with this, will I be able to paint over it?
Happy to help, Alyssa! Rust-Oleum Zinsser B-I-N Shellac-Based Primer is an excellent choice for sealing and preparing surfaces for paint. However, if the stain is still tacky after a week, that is a sign there is excess stain remaining on the surface. Before applying any primer, all of the uncured stain must be thoroughly removed using mineral spirits and clean rags, then allowed to dry completely. I decided to use latex paint that was from 2019 in one small bedroom. After 3 weeks the smell is awful. Will this cover/mask my problem?

Can this be used to encapsulate black mastic flooring?

B-I.N. is designed as a stain-blocking and bonding primer for surfaces such as wood, drywall, and previously painted surfaces. It has not been tested or approved as a mastic encapsulant or flooring underlayment. Hello adhesively (from removing old wood panels) remains after painting several times with water-based interior paint. Can I apply this product on walls as is and prevent future bleed through ?
