If you want to attach a by il sheet to a piece of wood outside, it would be better to use other fasteners such as screws. The duct tape will deteriorate over time when exposed to the elements.
No, No, No! ABSOLUTELY NOT! Never EVER use any kind of tape on stained wood, unless you want to ruin the wood!
No reason it shouldn't, although check the "clean" removal time on the label. You can then either change it out, or just consider working a little at cleaning the residue, if any, off, when you do remove it. Repeated exposure to water may also loosen it. And you may need to replace it during your wait. A good wipe down with 90% Isopropyl alcohol, before applying will help with a good bond. Good luck with your BO'd part, I'm in the trade and depending what it is, it could be months. Whatever you do, avoid paying in full until you get it. I wouldn't pay more than 50% until. VERY HIGH PROFIT ITEM.
My application was way different than yours, that being applied to an automotive finish to temporarily hold a windshield in place. In that application, after 2 weeks in Florida summer sun there was only the slightest residue left in only a few spots on the finish. The adhesion is fairly good so my concern for your application is if the muslin might be mechanically damaged by the removal process, I can't comment on that.. Good luck
I used it on carpet and it didn't stain or leave behind any glue. I think it would be fine. As usual, try it it on an inconspicuous area first.

I used this on an automotive finish in florida summer sun for two weeks with only a slight bit of residue left in spots. I will guess it will be ok in your application but two cautionary notes 1. Try removing after a few months 2. If the floor is finished (or pre-finished) it should be easy to remove any small residue with mineral spirits.
I would advise against doing that. The claim is that it won't leave behind adhesive residue. That doesn't mean it won't strip the finish off of your floor. You should invest in a cord cover and secure it to the floor using some museum or mounting putty.
I have not used it for this type application but my educated guess is yes
Definitely do not use for that purpose. I'm afraid it could even take the stain up off your floor. But I did not notice it leaving any residue behind. Mine was on my door for 12 hours and it peeled the paint off when i removed it
The windshield in our class A motor-home developed a series of water leaks when the adhesive failed. We were several hundred miles from home so I made temporary repairs with the 3 M product, several strips were needed to span a few inches on the windshield to a few inches on the paint. Even after a month in the Florida sun the tape was fairly easy to remove. I would not call it "no residue" but 99% came off with just pulling the tape the balance needed minor clean up with mineral spirits and a paper towel. Experiment with holding different angles for removing the tape some worked better than others. The paint was not damaged in any way.

It adhered plastic to brick, so it should work for foam
I used this on an automotive finish in florida summer sun for two weeks with only a slight bit of residue left in spots. I will guess it will be ok in your application Adhesion was good but not unlimited if the mats are free of dust and dirt where you want to apply the tape AND there is not too much stress on the tape.. good luck

I used it on an automotive finish and the paint was un-harmed, can not comment on interior house paints.
Probably, especially over painted sheetrock. This tape has a very strong adhesive.
Unfortunately there is no way to know how a specific painted wall will react to the removal of ANY tape. So many factors come into play. How the wall was prep'd before the paint was applied. How fresh the paint is (ANY tape will typically "pull" fresh, uncured paint). Ditto, old paint that may already be peeling, or paint where the material surface that is painted has become damp, so on and so forth. If I knew what it was you were wanting to do, I might better be able to suggest the proper tape to try. Are you trying to mask with this? Or are you wanting to "stick" something to the wall? Or has the duct tape already been used to "stick something to the wall? We are a commercial contractor, and our use of this tape is exclusively for taping materials into place temporarily for fitting-up purposes and/or to hold them in place while bonding agents cure. The surfaces of the materials are "hard" surfaces, aluminum, steel, etc. Finishes for which we are looking for no tape residue, when the tape is removed, and they are not surfaces which would be susceptible to peeling. If I were using a tape to mask with, on a painted surface, the best I have found is "FrogTape Multi-Surface 1.41 in. x 60 yds. Painter's Tape with PaintBlock, Green", also sold by HD.
To answer your question regarding no residue duct tape,I utilize this tape in an unconventional method to hang Xmas lights, which adhered to the wall on one side and no it didn’t stick to the paint. The building I reside in was built I the seventies, compared to the modern day buildings if that’s an legit answer.
Hello Tom, Use the 3M masking tape for a wall. It is a great product that leaves crisp lines when painting, doesn't harm the surface and easily peels off. The 3M Duct Tape is for a heavier surface such as a brick wall, or pavement surface. I used the 3M Duct tape on asphalt to cover a painted line while applying tar to the asphalt.
YES, durable, did not leave a residue like regular "duck tape" you can also use 3M blue paint tape
No, this tape is not recommended for wood flooring.
Hello. Thank you for asking. We would not recommend this tape be applied to wood flooring. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please connect with us directly at 1-800-494-3552 M-F 8am-5pm CT. Thank you.
I think it would work. It pretty much works just like regular duct-tape but without leaving residue when you take it up.
We use this commercially to hold finished materials in place temporarily, so I speak with a great deal of experience. It is a very tough tape and will remove cleanly without issue. Not knowing your purpose I can't really speak to it's applicability, but I assume you are using this for some type of temporary markings, for which it should work just fine. For it to stick, it must be applied to a very clean surface. Because of the adhesive used it does not bond well to any surface that is not clean, and it doesn't bond to some materials at all, however, applying it to a gym type floor, finished hardwood, or perhaps a composite of some sort, should not be an issue. Give it a trial run...
