About This Product
The EVERMARK 48 in. x 11-1/2 in. unfinished plain cut pine wood stair tread is crafted from two color-matched pine re-sawn layers. Unfinished pine is added as a surface layer on the tread over an edge-glued softwood core, allowing this wood stair tread to feature a clean, uniform, look that's clear of most knots and imperfections commonly found in solid yellow pine treads. The special core of this stair tread also makes it stable and resistant to warping, checking, and cupping so it's perfect for use in carpet-grade stair construction or stair remodeling, as well as for stained or painted stair tread applications. Designed for interior use, our unfinished pine tread is 1 in. thick and can be finished to match your other stair parts or decor. It will fit stairs up to 48 in. in width and accommodates tread runs up to 11-1/2 in. For a solid installation of treads, put a bead of construction adhesive on the stringer before installation. Can I use this oak stair outside?

Can you use a Brad nailer to put the stair tread down
Hi Russ, Brad nails are not the best nail to use for tread installation. We recommend using 16-gauge x 2 inch or 2 1/2 inch galvanized finish nails if you are using an air nailer.
Can these be used to span stair landings? The old plywood (under catpet) will be removed. If these are solid lengths, it seems this use would be OK. Just confirming. The current plywood is 3/4". Trying to stay within specs.

We stained these treads with a poly stain and they now have black marks that showed on them any reason for this
Sand and scrape it down then apply a pre stain wood conditioner twice 5 hours apart then stain

What size of nail do I use if I’m laying it on existing stair ?
Hi Lore, For installing treads over existing stairs, 15-gauge, 2-inch finish nails should suffice. To ensure extra security, we recommend applying a thin bead of construction adhesive to the stringers before nailing the treads in place.
Can these be painted?

Hi Fadi, Trim head screws are ok as long as the user understands they will be visible after installation. Using wood putty to cover the holes and sanding them smooth would be the next steps before finishing.

For this reason, we do not recommend staining pine treads, especially when trying to match the appearance of red oak.If a stained finish is desired, we recommend using red oak treads for a more consistent and even result. However, if the project will be painted—particularly in a darker color—pine treads should perform well.
