It is not advised to tile over MDF because it swells and does not hold mortar well.

If used for its intended purpose, yes. If not, No.

No. You mist seal it if you want water resistance.
Not water resistant either. It swells badly and rapidly with water contact. Water based finishes and paints seem ok though.
Will this work as a sub floor
No. This has nowhere close to the structural strength of actual rated subfloor. Also, see other post about water.
If it gets wet it will expand if your talking about like a actual floor
