3.5 Amp 1/4 in. Die Grinder

Thank you for your question about our GD0601 1/4" Die Grinder, with AC/DC Switch. The Makita GD0601 is designed primarily as an AC-powered die grinder, but its AC/DC switch allows it to operate from DC power sources at the same 120 voltage, 3.5amp, listed on its nameplate.

Stick to the 1/4" for this size die grinder, use a Dremel for 1/8"

No it will not it only comes with a 1/4'' Collet / To accept a 1/8'' Diameter shank like those used for a Dremel you need an adaptor / They sell a reducer adaptor that is 1/4'' O.D. and 1/8'' I.D. / or try to get a collet made for the grinder that accepts 1/8'' Shanks / I know they make them / Hope this helps!

Just look for the 3.5 amp 1/4 die grinder & it will tell you the number . OK die grinder , I hate that it doesn't have a lock button when changing out bits . The two wrenches to make a change is a pure pain in the neck. . It also does not have variable speed . Not sure I need it , but it does make sense to have it . Take a look at all of the die grinders at Home d . So far after a year of use it is still running great . Wear eye protection when using , this is a must . These things throw little tiny , tiny , bits of steel everywhere

No Attachments, No accessories. Make sure you get the wrenches in the box. Mine were not in it. I had to contact Makita, and then, They only sent 1. You need two to lock the collar.

It does not come with any attachments. However it accepts all 1/4” bits that you can put in it. Very powerful. Overall a great machine to grind metal wood or anything you have a bit for.

Yes, as long as they are rated for the RPM of the grinder. And wear your safety glasses.

You'll have a difficult time finding 1/4" shank wire wheels with a high enough speed rating. I was able to find some 20,000 RPM rated wheels, but not 25,000. There is no facility for a wheel guard on this tool, so as the wheel wears, or really anytime at all, a high velocity wire may become a mini projectile to take out an eye or pierce the skin. This can happen at much lower speeds than 25K. I wouldn't even try it.

You don’t want to go to big. But anything that has a 1/4 inch shaft will fit. This grinder does have a high rpm. I would be aware bearing down on things as it will grab good.

You "could" but it would be inadvisable as wire wheels aren't designed to operate at the RPM the tool spins.

You could use a wire wheel but this die grinder runs at such high speed it would probably not work well and the speed is not adjustable.

I think the adapters are available, they arre for shanks that are bigger. I only use the 1/4" shaft size

The shaft size of burs and bits can change depending on the job and the 'load' placed on the tool. It's handy to be able to replace the collet so that the tool is more versatile and can use a wider variety of burs and bits.

I guess they must make bits with a 3/8" shank . I only use bits with 1/4" shanks

I don't think that the tool company would approve their usage. Adapters are made sometimes just to sell more accs.

If it fits what tool you have go for it . the 3" wheels I use have a 1/4" shaft, & go in my die grinder The 41/2" wheels have a 7/8" hole that is a standard size for a 41/2" grinder

If you wish to pair your Makita 3.5-Amp 1/4 in. Die Grinder (GD0601) with a wheel, the wheel cannot exceed 38 mm in diameter and 1/4" wheel point (collet), per guidelines in the tool’s instruction manual.

hahahah ya I guess , if you have a 3/8 adapter for the unit , which is 1/4". It certainly would be powerful enough to handle it

For a 1/8" bit, I would use a smaller tool like a Dremel. Die grinders are heavy and it can be challenging doing fine work with a 1/8" size shank and such a large tool..

in experience with 1/4" die grinders, NO. Use the small Dremel for 1/8".

I'm pretty sure there isn't . To many rpms for 1/8 Go to a Drimel type
