Stop algae growth in its tracks! TotalPond Algaecide restores the health of your pond or water feature by preventing green water, eliminating existing algae, and resolving additional algae blooms. It effectively controls many types of green or green water algae, string or hair algae, and blanketweed in ponds that contain live plants. One 16 oz. bottle treats up to 4,730 gallons of water. Add 1 tsp (5mL) for every 50 gallons of pond or fountain water. Once algae growth is under control, add one dose every 5 days. Weekly doses of Algaecide will control growth and reduce pond or fountain maintenance. During warm summer months, adequate aeration is required. So, pumps and aeration devices should be kept on at night when using this product. For ornamental water feature use only, where all water is contained without any outflow. TotalPond Algaecide is EPA-registered and can be used in ponds with fish and plants.

hello Susan, thank you for your inquiry. It would depend on how bad the algae is. We always suggest testing the water before using any water treatment to make sure you are treating the correct issue. If the algae isn't cleared after the first application, you can reapply every 5 days until it is. Then you would use it once a week for maintenance. Make sure to use the correct dose and use extra aeration as Algaecide will deplete the oxygen in the water. When used as directed, it should work fine. There really isn't a time frame since we don't know how bad your situation is. We hope this helps! Your TotalPond Water Gardening Specialist, Cindy

Hello John, thank you for your inquiry. Yes, sometimes algaecide can cause foaming or bubbles. when mixing algaecide with water and organic matter they can trap air and create bubbles. Also, when algae decompose, they release proteins and other organic compounds that can act like natural foaming agents. Aerator, fountains, and the combination of surfactants and organic matter can make foam more noticeable. We hope this helps! Your TotalPond Water Gardening Specialist, Cindy
