What is the wind grade for this pergola?
Hello there. We do not have wind rating on our pergolas. In our experience over the past 20 years having many products throughout the U.S. and Canada, because of the low profile/surface area of our pergolas, they have withstood high winds and hurricanes. Installing our pergolas into a concrete footing will be the most secure option. However, we cannot guarantee that there will not be damage from high winds, hurricanes and storms.
Can you drill holes in this to hang a bench swing?
Hello there. Our Pergolas and Arbors are not meant to hold weight, We do not recommend hanging a swing.
Does it come with the base plates to anchor into vomposite wood
Yes, it is possible to install on your existing surface! You will need to purchase the Vita Bolt Down Bracket 4-pack VA80205 and follow the assembly guide in order to complete your installation.
Can you add a privacy screen on one or two sides, and if so, which one do you recommend? Thank you.
If you add privacy screens or shade panels/curtains, does this void the warranty?
Great question! If you need more privacy, you can definitely add a privacy screen. When you attach it to the pergola posts, make sure that your screws go all the way into the wood inside. We do not manufacture these so I wouldn't be able to recommend any.
Can this pergola be cut with a wood saw to adjust the size if needed?
Yes, the vinyl is easy to cut. Measure twice and cut once!
What is the inside size of the poles. The outside is 5 inches as i see it. And it takes a 4x4 inch + 1/2 inch shim + 1/2 inch shim 3.5 + 0.5 + 0.5 = 4.5 inch. So is the thickness just 5 - 4.5 = 0.5/2 = 0.25 inches?
Great question. The vinyl for our pergola posts is .125" thick. When you count both sides, that gives you .25". This pergola is covered by our 10 year manufacturer's warranty and you'll never have to paint it or stain it.
Can this be installed in dirt & if so what parts are needed
The Lakewood pergola can be installed in the ground. You just need to purchase posts that are long enough to be 3' in the ground and tall enough to fill the pergola posts.
