    I would say it is strong, but not heavy at all. I am a 68 year old woman, 5’5”, 110 lbs and I lift it during exercise without effort. It will also support my weight while I perform squats etc.

        This dowel is just what I needed ..... it will become, when cut into 3 equal pieces, a practice stick for broom weaving. The stick when tied with broom making twine, becomes fax broomcorn and allows the student to practice with the foot brake.
