can you use this for a gesso with oil paintings
Yes, you certainly can. I have personally used our Black Acrylic paint as a gesso for many of my oil paintings and it works great! Fast-drying and brushes on smooth. -DecoArt Paint Guru
Is this product suitable for painting shoes or leather jackets? Vinyl or leather surfaces?
The Americana is not formulated for flexible surfaces, as it dries hard and permanently, so it will crack on pliable surfaces. We do have a product specifically for that application called Stylin' Leather paint on our website @ www.decoart.com -DecoArt Paint Guru
Can this paint be used outdoors? I need to paint the house numbers on a post that is exposed to the elements.
Hello! Unfortunately, the Americana Lamp Black is not formulated to withstand outdoor elements. However, our Americana Multi-Surface Black Tie - DA539 - is rated indoor/outdoor, so we would recommend that product for your house numbers. -DecoArt Paint Guru
Can this be used to decorate the outside of a lampshade?

Will this work on a glass aquarium
The Americana Lamp Black is not formulated to adhere to slick surfaces such as glass. We would recommend the Americana Multi-Surface Black Tie (DA539) - this paint will adhere to glass, but will need 4 day cure time. Also, the Multi-Surface paint can only be used on the outside of the aquarium, not the inside. It is not formulated to withstand constant immersion under water and will break down. -DecoArt Paint Guru
can this be used to tint epoxy resins?
We would not recommend that you use the Lamp Black, as we have not tested this process using epoxy resins and we're uncertain of the results you may encounter. -DecoArt Paint Guru
