Primarily the Razor-back products and parts are made in the USA. Some of the components like screws and rivets are imported. They are assembled in the USA as well. Below is a link to their web site if you are interested. http://www.ames.com/

Not sure of the gauge, but it measures .063 to .070".

                      By|May 4, 2023

While the product description only reads, "heavy gauge," a sticker on the handle reads, "SHVL, LHSP, #2, 14GA, HB, FTS, SKT EMBOSS, FGL HDL, RZR-BK." I assume the "14GA" means 14 gauge. The tool is produced by The AMES Companies, Inc., product #2594500.

                                Don’t Buy it breaks
Purchased this product a while back. It’s pretty much had light use only until I needed to do a trench recently in which I also used a trenching shovel. I have the version with the wood handle and it snapped in half. Reached out to Ames who is the maker of this product and they want everything short of a blood sample to be able to file a warranty claim. They don’t stand behind their products. Purchase the Husky brand. That way if something happens you can take right back to Home Depot stores.

I've only had this shovel for a couple weeks but I really like it so far. I was digging a 100 ft long trench by hand so it got some heavy usage; I'm filling that trench back in now so it's still in fairly heavy use. I like that it's long (I'm tall) and has a nice handle grip. It seems like a great, sturdy shovel so far.

With repeated snow storms all this week, I bought this shovel to clear the snowplow-return back onto my driveway apron. The tempered steel blade easily slices through ice, snow, debris, and frozen material.Scrapes and Cleans down to bare concrete. Long handle with soft grip makes it easy to handle and maneuver. Definitely the best material shovel on the rack. Used Vet card and received discount off this warrior worthy shovel.

Sturdy construction on the handle and scoop. No Sharp corners that could damage tarps, driveways, etc. Nice touch with the cushioned handle. Cool RAZOR-BACK design details. Good Value for a tool that should last a lifetime.
