Why does my carpet look like it has been used. Colors are dull on the cream beige. I owned this carpet many years ago and it was much lighter.

Hello, generally, new Safavieh rugs will emit an odor. This odor is likely caused by the packaging material, dyes, fiber yarns, and or backing. These are all natural odors that are sometimes heightened after the rug has been sealed for shipping and/ or storage. The odor will dissipate within 1 - 2 weeks, after removing it from the packaging. Does this rug get vacuumed easily with stick vacuum like Dyson being high pile?
Hello! We recommend using a canister vacuum without beater bars or disengaging the beater bars when vacuuming. It is recommended to use the attachment to your vacuum and try to clean it that way. Do not use a rotating brush on this rug but instead use a bristle brush when vacuuming. You may want to look for these features in your vacuum: 1) Canister Vacuum 2) Comes with an attachment such as a bristle brush 3) Has a high pile setting (adjustable height for high piles) 4) Has large wheels (to glide easily across carpet) 5) Able to turn on/off the beater bars (to prevent damage to the surface) 6) *Does not have a rotating brush* 7) Avoid vacuums with a very contracted suction (for efficient airflow) Please stay away from any high-power suction vacuums such as Shark, Roombas, or any Robotic (Automatic) vacuums. These vacuums can damage your rug by pulling out the fibers. Please note, filling the canister after vacuuming is normal, please empty it before every use. Since all grays are different, is there a sample size square of this rug that can be purchased to determine the exact color of the gray rug, before I purchase a full size rug?
I typically purchase the smallest size rug as a sample. I recently built a house and purchased 20 small "sample" carpets. Once I had made my selection I brought them all back. HD is great about returns. No Hassle whatsoever!
